OLIVE TREE IN THE EMBRACE OF THE HOUSES
Menton | France
In the hush of Menton’s old quarter, the pastel houses lean toward one another like faded storytellers, their facades brushed in soft apricot, rose, and lemon—sunlight distilled into stone. Time has left them with gentle cracks and weathered shutters, yet they stand with quiet dignity, their age a testament to their enduring strength. At the heart of the square, an olive tree rises, its silver-green leaves whispering against the blue Mediterranean air. Its gnarled trunk seems to hold the memory of centuries, roots drinking from the same soil that carries the scent of citrus and salt. The branches spread wide, casting a dappled shade where silence lingers like prayer.
